PART 1 OF 'NOLA: LIFE, DEATH AND HEAVY BLUES' DOCUMENTARY PREMIERED TODAY, WATCH IT HERE
Today Noisey, the music arm of VICE, is proud to present NOLA: Life, Death And Heavy Blues From The Bayou, episode 1. A seven-part series examining the people and the culture that helped foster bands like Down, Eyehategod, Crowbar, and so many others, episode 1 features New Orleans native Phil Anselmo who exports his style to Dallas band Pantera, thereby changing the landscape for metal in the '90s. Meanwhile, a visit from the Melvins to the New Orleans area would alter music as we know it, while Kirk Windstein of the band Shell Shock was discovering that slower was, for him, indeed heavier.
Starring: Members of Down, Pantera, Eyehategod, Crowbar, Corrosion Of Conformity, Goatwhore, and more, Noisey delves in deep with the NOLA natives on Tuesdays and Thursdays starting TODAY.

SOUTHERN METAL SCENE DOCUMENTARY NOW PLAYING
Here's an excellent documentary on the American southern metal scene. It was uploaded in it's entirety by it's producer Chris Terry a few days ago. OccultRock.com is based in the south so we can certainly vouch for the accuracy of Slow Southern Steel. Anyone who grew up here through the 80's remember the 'satanic panic' which is covered by many of the bands in the movie. It's a shame when I think back to how many great albums were burned in this time of southern hysteria. It's not all about that but... see it for yourself. Starring members/former members of Corrosion of Conformity, Buzzov-en, Sourvein, Weedeater, Goatwhore, Lamb of God, Dark Castle, EyeHateGod, Hank 3, Phil Anselmo and more.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY PREMIERE NEW VIDEO FOR "ON YOUR WAY"
One of my long time favorites Corrosion of Conformity have changed their sound probably more than any other band in metal history starting as a punk/hardcore band morphing into a thrashy metal band then adding southern flare with the addition of guitar guru Pepper Keenan and now Pepper-less CoC dropped their ninth studio album, IX (duh!), earlier this year which is a bit of a mix of their entire history of sound. Their self titled 2012 release marked CoC’s return minus Pepper Keenan who left to serve full time with Down followed later that year by the Ep Megalodon both excellent but turning the southern groove flare that Keenan had brought to the band into more of a sludge sound, no complaints here.
